Adoption Update for December 3, 2009

Tonight is our last home study meeting to finish our interview questions and get our home inspected. I've been tiding up and getting ready in accordance with the crazy list we have to comply with. Most of it is pretty simple (like having a fire extinguisher and first aid kit) but we did have to do a little reorganizing for some of the items (locking up all cleaning supplies, medicines and even kitchen knives!). Our family portfolio is almost done; more on that later! I'm waiting to hear back from our agency as to where excactly we go from here. All I do know is there are a couple of big payments to be made in the near future. I am super excited that after a spontaneous brainstorm session with a few of our community group members last night I just may have a great fundraiser coming up.

As soon as we get certified (hopefully tonight) we can start applying for grants and if necessary loans. But in the meantime, for those of you who might be interested, here are a few ways you can help us bring our baby home:

1. Recycle! If you would be so willing and inclined, please cash in your plastic and cans (we've heard glass isn't worth the hassle) and donate the proceeds to our adoption fund! If you live locally, you could even just bring us your recyclables and we'll take care of it.

2. Shop Etsy! I have a new etsy shop open with a few things in it. If you see something you like I can do custom orders (shoot me an email or an etsy convo for info). My newest item I'll be making (I don't have any listed yet, but email me if you are interested) is a mini mei-tai doll carrier, that will sell for $15. I'm hoping to have some other new items in there soon as well. {click banner below to visit the shop.}

3.  Give! If you are a family member or close friend who would normally give us a Christmas gift, we would be totally blessed to receive a donation for our adoption in lieu of a gift this year.

4. Pray! We have been so stoked on all the friends and family who have told us they are praying with us as we move forward. Thank you for your continued prayer and support! We love seeing you get excited with us as we progress.
